Dr. Eggman needed someone to guard Death Egg from Sonic, so he created Silver Sonic. He had silver color and after he rebuilt him he had a blue and black color, and his eyes are red.
Silver Sonic was defeated by Sonic in Death Egg (Sonic the Hedgehog 2, 16-bit bit version) and he was destroyed. Afterwards Silver Sonic was rebuilt in a more tall and imposing mechanic structure, and Dr. Eggman set him to guard Sky Santuary zone from Sonic again while Death Egg was being launched from Angel Island.
Sonic defeated Silver Sonic again. Silver Sonic was activated again to make a final attemp to steal the Master Emerald. Then he destroyed the Egg Mobile. He could suck energy from the Master Emerald and he could become Super Silver Sonic, but that wasn't enough to kick out Knuckles from getting the Master Emerald back to Angel Island. Then Knuckles defeated Silver Sonic and the Sky Santuary zone was destroyed completely, including Silver Sonic.
